A Sri Lankan man has been sentenced to life in prison for the fatal stabbing of a woman in Somerset.
Gobinath Vellasamy, 36, will serve a minimum of 18 years for stabbing to death Mayurathy Perinpamoorthy in Yeovil last year.
The post-mortem examination found she died from multiple stab wounds.
Mr Vellasamy was arrested after the discovery of Ms Perinpamoorthy’s body by police officers in a ground-floor flat in Tudor Court.
After the sentencing at Exeter Crown Court, Det Insp Tim Corner said: “Mayurathy Perinpamoorthy was killed in a brutal attack last year.
“She had settled in Yeovil having moved here from Sri Lanka and she had her whole life ahead of her.” (BBC)
