Parliament suspended for 15 minutes following protest by Opposition MPs

Parliament was suspended by 15 minutes by Parliament Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa after the Opposition MPs staged a protest.
The Opposition had requested the Speaker to permit a debate on the issues pertaining to narcotics as it is a matter of concern at this time. However, the Speaker had refused the request claiming that the ruling party had already requested a topic of debate and that only one debate can be held per day.
The Opposition in protest displayed banners within the parliament chamber. The sessions were then suspended by the Speaker for 15 minutes.
