
The Chairman and the former Chairman of the Wilgamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha, who were arrested for the possession for nearly 3 kilograms of cannabis, have been remanded till April 01 by court, police said.
They were ordered remanded after being produced before the Mahiyanganaya Magistrate.
The two suspects were arrested by officers of the Walana Anti-Vice Squad last night in the Girandurukotte area with approximately 2,835 grams of cannabis.
They were transporting the illicit drugs in a vehicle belonging to the Pradeshiya Sabha when the arrests were made.
Wilgamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, Jayantha Weerasekara, and former PS Chairman, Ranjith Dissanayake, were arrested under the same charges on March 01 and were released on bail after being produced at court.
