
The UPFA received the highest amount of votes in the Matara District at the Southern Provincial Council election with 231,102 votes securing 59% of the vote while the UNP received 96,297 votes which is 24.6% of the total number of votes.
The JVP received a total of 39,158 votes in the Matara District while the Democratic Party received 20,501 votes.
The UPFA won 10 seats in the Matara District while the UNP won 4 seats. The JVP won 2 seats while the DP won 1.
The UPFA received 9,738 postal votes in the Matara District while the UNP received 2,450 votes. The DP and JVP received 1,719 and 1,611 votes respectively.
The UPFA received 25,608 votes in the Matara Polling Division of the Matara District while the UNP received 16,305 votes. The JVP and DP received 8,053 and 3,583 votes each.
In the Weligama polling division the UPFA received 29,294 votes, the UNP 13,694, JVP 6,699 while the DP received 2,805 votes.
The UPFA also received the highest number of votes in the Kamburupitiya polling division with 33,672 votes while the UNP, JVP and DP received 10,074, 3,967 and 3,012 votes respectively.
In the Hakmana polling division, the UPFA received 35,495 votes while the UNP received 12,344 votes. The JVP and the DP received 4,075 and 2,865 votes respectively.
The UPFA received 27,313 votes in the Devinuwara polling division while the UNP receive 9,822. The JVP and the DP received 5,454 and 2,665 votes respectively.
In the Akuressa polling division the UPFA received 32,447 votes, the UNP received 17,749 votes while the JVP and DP received 6,518 and 1,453 votes.
In the Deniyaya polling division the UPFA received 37,535 votes while the UNP received 13,859. The JVP and DP received 2,781 and 2,399 votes respectively.
