
Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe announced that he will travel to the US for a period of about a month to lecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Speaking as a press conference held today (April 2) in Colombo, he stated that he was invited by MIT to lecture at their institute but had to postpone his journey until the sessions in Geneva were complete.
He further added that the UNP’s vision for the country is to develop the nation through a large technological leap and that he will gain important knowledge on his journey to the US from universities including Harvard, Boston and MIT.
Ranil claimed that the public flashed a red light at the government and its henchmen through the Provincial Council election results and that the people answered the call of the UNP and helped loosen the roots of the government.
He also called upon of the parties to unite and work towards toppling this tree together.
