Pakistani arrested with heroin worth over Rs 2.5 million

A Pakistani national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake with a haul of heroin worth over Rs 2.5 million.
The 34-year-old man was arrested by the officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Unit last night with 300 grams of heroin concealed in his hand luggage and in the sole of his shoe.
Sri Lanka Customs spokesman Leslie Gamini stated that the illicit drugs were in three 100g packs, one in each of his 2 bags and one in the sole of his shoe.
The suspect, a frequent traveler, had arrived from Karachi by flight UL184 at 9.00pm, he said.
Investigations are being carried out airport customs, the spokesman said.
