Five nabbed for illegal tree felling in reserve

Five persons have been arrested by officers of the Kilinochchi Police Special Task Force (STF) for engaging in the illegal felling of trees at the Ramanadanpura reserve in Iranamadu.
The STF also seized timber worth over Rs 100,000 prepared to be transported and equipment used by the suspects for cutting down the trees.
The arrested suspects and timber have been handed over to the Kilinochchi Police Station for onward action, STF said.
