
The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) today discovered 80 tonnes of big onions unsuitable for consumption which had been stored in a warehouse at the Welisara economic center for distribution to consumers during the festive season.
The CAA says that the stock of big onions, estimated to be worth around Rs 6 million, had been imported from India by a businessman from 5th Cross Street, Pettah.
Similarly the CAA had seized 45,000kg of rotten oranges from a warehouse in Wattala today.
