A controlled price for rice will be imposed from midnight today. White raw will be Rs. 66 per kg, red raw Rs.60, white nadu Rs. 68, red nadu Rs.66 and samba at Rs. 77 per kg.
Meanwhile all existing taxes on rice imports have been removed and instead a special commodity levy of Rs. 5 per kg on imported rice imposed from today, the Finance Ministry said.
