India’s abstention from voting at the UNHRC on the resolution on Sri Lanka has granted an opening to work with the Sri Lankan government more closely on certain issues, India’s Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh said in an interview with Indian media.
She also claimed that the Sri Lanka knew very well what India expects on the Tamil issue while adding that the UNHRC was going beyond its mandate on its action towards Sri Lanka.
In an interview she gave to IBN she added that the Indian government did not support the UN in its attempt to investigate Sri Lanka and further stressed upon the close relationship between the two countries.
