A clash between Armed forces and suspected LTTE operatives occurred last night (April 10) in the Nedunkerny area of Vavuniya resulting in the death of three suspects, an Ada Derana correspondent reported.
Defence authorities have been searching for Kajeepan Ponniah Selvanayagam alias Gopi which culminated in the clash in which three LTTE suspects were also killed. It is yet to be confirmed though if Gopi was one of the LTTE suspects killed in the ambush.
The Police Media Spokesman, SSP Ajith Rohana stated earlier that Rs. 1 million will be given to anyone who provides information regarding Gopi.
However, the Police Spokesman stated that he was unaware of the operation conducted by the armed forces.
Army Media Spokesman, Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya stated that he was still receiving information regarding the operation and Ada Derana is awaiting confirmation of the reports from the Army.
