Police Sergeant arrested with 1kg of ganja

A Police Sergeant has been arrested for the possession of 1 kilogram of marijuana following a raid carried out by Nawagattegama Police in the Andarawewa area.

Sergeant K.K. Ranjith, attached to the Vavuniya Police Division, a resident of Monaragala, was returning to Vavuniya after May Day duty with 2kg of cannabis and had already sold one kilogram.

He was arrested when he was attempting to sell the second parcel of cannabis. Ranjith is believed to have transported the narcotics from Monaragala.

The three-wheeler he was traveling in and the driver have also been taken into custody along with Rs 10,000 found in the suspect’s possession.
