Answering questions of popular social media network Twitter President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that Sri Lanka has placed legal provisions to provide employment to differently abled youth. President added that Sri Lanka will stick to this policy.
President gave this answer to a tweet questioning him on when youth with disabilities be mainstreamed in overall youth agendas.
Answering the question:
Why aren’t (many/most) public spaces equipped with ramps/ elevators to enable accessibility for the disabled?
President answered:
We’re in the process of doing it in all new buildings. SC has also directed. However, more needs to be done
President also added that ‘there is a govt ruling that 3% of all jobs be allotted to differently abled. Rs250,000 is given as housing loans.’
