Landslide claims 2 lives; teenager dies after wall collapses

Two sisters from the same family died following a landslide in the Walebada area in Balangoda, caused by heavy rainfall experienced in the area.
A 27 year-old woman and her 14-year-old sister have been identified as the deceased while their mother has suffered injuries from the incident and has been admitted to hospital.
Meanwhile a 16-year-old youth died after a wall collapsed on him in the Eheliyagoda area this morning.
Police said that the boy had gone to see a tree which had fallen due to heavy rainfall when the wall had suddenly collapsed on him. He is a resident of Eheliyagoda.
Eheliyagoda Police are conducting further investigations.
