
A severe weather advisory has been issued from Jun 6 to 9 as seas will be rough and wind speeds will increase to 80kmph. All naval and fishing communities advised to be vigilant, the Meteorological Department said today.
With the onset of Southwest Monsoon ,there is a high possibility for increasing of rain in the South-western parts of the country and winds over Sri Lanka and neighbouring sea areas during the period from 06th to 09th June 2014.
There will be showers at times with heavy rainfalls more than 100mm at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western provinces and over Galle and Matara districts.
Sea Conditions
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant as deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle will be rough with strong southwesterly wind up to 80km/hr.
