
The main suspect in the murder of a bus conductor at the Tangalle bus stand has been arrested by police.
The suspect was arrested in an operation by Tangalle Police last night while a pistol and 6 bullets were found in his possession, the Police Spokesman’s Office said.
It has been reported that the suspect is connected to several murders carried out in the area.
A 34-year-old temporary bus conductor was shot and killed at around 11.30am last Wednesday (June 4) by two gunmen on a motorcycle.
Police on Friday arrested three suspects over the murder carried out in broad daylight.
The gunmen had reportedly inquired from victim regarding the whereabouts of a man known as ‘Army Amila’ and when the he responded in the negative they opened fire at him and fled.
Army Amila, who is a suspect in a rape and murder case, was injured after being shot at by gunmen near the Tangalle Magistrate’s Court on May 22.
