Koswatta Police have arrested a suspect responsible for selling ‘Kerala Ganja’ in the area while 3 kilograms and around 200 packets of ganja were recovered from his residence.
The suspect was arrested following a search carried out at a residence near the Kirimetiyana Temple, following a tipoff that he is responsible for selling marijuana across the area.
The suspect, a resident of Central Kandy, who had been released after serving a 10 year prisons sentence, carried out the business after renting a house near the Kirimetiyana Temple, police said.
He had been transporting the illicit drugs from Kataragama via buses and had sold them in small packets to residents in the area, including students.
The suspect and evidence is to be produced at the Marawila Magistrate’s Court.
