The Department of Meteorology says that several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Showers may extend to North-Western province too.
Southwest monsoonal winds may be strengthening at times over the island, especially along the western slopes of the central hills, it said.
There will be Showers or thundershowers at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be Southwesterly and the speed will be 20-40 kmph. Winds can be strengthening up to 50kmph at times.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Colombo to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanthurai will be rough at times as the winds can be strengthening up to 50-60kmph at times. Other sea areas around the island will also be fairly rough at times.
