Investigations are being carried out by the Colombo Crimes Division and Panadura Police to determine whether the fire which broke out at the Nolimit’ clothing store in Panadura this morning was caused by an electrical fault or any other reason, the police spokesman said.
Testimonies have been recorded from 6 witnesses so far while data collected at the location of the fire will be submitted to the government analyst, SSP Ajith Rohana said.
The ‘Nolimit’ fashion store located in the town of Panadura was destroyed after a fire broke out in the early hours today. The fire brigade had dispatched 6 fire trucks to douse the flames, however most of the two storied building was destroyed by then.
The police spokesman stated that the investigation is expected to reach a conclusion regarding the cause of the fire within the day and that the results will be revealed to the public.
He also urged the public not to be deceived by the incorrect information regarding the fire being spread through text messages and social media as investigations are still ongoing.
