
Four faculties of the Ruhuna University, which were temporarily closed following a tense situation, will be reopened on Monday (23) and studies resumed, Vice Chancellor of the university Prof. Gamini Senanayake said.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Management and Finance, Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences & Technology will reopen tomorrow.
The university administration had taken a decision to close the faculties after a tense situation had prevailed at the university premises due to a dispute between students and residents in the area regarding the Deyata Kirula exhibition being held there.
However, the vice chancellor stated that special security measures have currently been taken in and around the university and requested hostel students to report to their respective hostels today (22).
