Another buoy damaged; unloading halted at Muthurajawela

The unloading of refined crude oil to the Muthurajawela oil storage facility has reportedly been halted due to a burst in a hose of the buoy located in the Uswetakeiyawa sea area this morning.
Meanwhile a similar damaged buoy had resulted in the temporary closure of the Sapugaskanda refinery on June 25.
Trade unions claim that Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is paying millions as demurrages daily due to oil tankers which are anchored near the main port.
Petroleum Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa had denied allegations that the damaged buoywould lead to a fuel shortage as sufficient refined products are in stock.
