Another train derails at Parasangaswewa

Train services from Anuradhapura to Vavuniya have been temporarily suspended due to a train derailment at Parasangaswewa, Anuradhapura. The Railway Control Room stated that an express train traveling from Colombo Fort to Palai had derailed.
However, the Railway Control Room said that measures have already been taken to resolve the issue and recommence train services.
This is the second train derailment in the country within the past 24 hours.
Three persons were injured and hospitalized after 2 compartments of a Colombo Fort-bound train derailed near the Bambalapitiya railway station yesterday evening.
The train, arriving from Matara, had derailed causing a delay in train services on the coastal line.
