Man hangs himself after murdering woman

A 39-year-old man who allegedly murdered a woman in Etambagahawatta, Weligama today has committed suicide by hanging himself inside his home.
Police said the man had attacked and critically injured a neighboring 35-year-old woman, using a club, this afternoon and that she had succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at the ICU of the Matara General Hospital.
The suspect had later proceeded to hang himself inside his residence, police said.
Weligama Police are conducting further investigations.
