
A severe weather advisory issued today by the Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology says that strong winds (up to 70-80kmph) can be expected at times in the central hills region.
Fairly strong winds can be expected over the country particularly along the western slopes of the central hills further, it said.
One or two spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. A few showers can be expected in the North-Western province too, the Met Department said.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Negambo to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanthurai will be rough at times as winds can be strengthen up to 60kmph at times. Other sea areas around the island may be fairly rough at times.
