Mt. Lavinia Traffic OIC suspended

The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Traffic at the Mount Lavinia Police Station has been suspended with immediate effect on charges of negligence, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.
Earlier today, a Sergeant attached to the Mt. Lavinia Police Station was abducted and later released by four individuals.
An investigation has been launched into the abduction while it has been reported that the Mt. Lavinia Traffic OIC’s failure to properly assign duties to officers had been a cause for the incident.
Therefore the Police Department has decided to suspend the police officer.
