General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) Ven. Galaboda Aththe Gnanasara Thero told Ada Derana that not only their fan pages on facebook, but some other pages handled by individuals who raised their voice against racism and social injustice too have been removed.

The Thero pointed out that fan pages including his personal account named ‘G Gnanasara Thero’ were removed as a result of continues cyber attack by some subscribers to paralyze their pages.

“Our pages neither published photos nor post any posts targeting to attack the beliefs of any religion. And the facebook has also removed some other pages that stood against racism in Sri Lanka, which were handled by individuals from outside the country,” the Theo added.

The facebook pages handled by the BBS were removed in June after the subscribers of the social networking site reported the page for containing hate speech and symbols.

It was reported that the pages for the BBS, had 8,500 likes at time of removal, while the page for Gnanasara Thero had over 15, 000 likes.
