Enjoining order on GMOA dismissed

The Mt-lavinia District Court today dismissed the enjoining order issued on the newly appointed office bearers of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA).
The order was dismissed when the case was taken up for hearing in the presence of District Court Judge Gihan Ranasinghe, a short while ago.
The Court on 3 July ruled to restrain the elected members at the Annual General Meeting of the GMOA, from functioning as office bearers. The order was issued after Dr. Niroshan Premaratne filed a case alleging that the 2014 election was illegal and conducted in violation of a court order, and the GMOA had allowed a candidate to contest, who was not a member attached to the union.
