Ex- UPFA PC member Ananda Sarath Kumara, who came to the spotlight yet again due to the serious allegations rose against him recently, has given a statement to the Nawagattegama police last night, stating this is a conspiracy by someone to take revenge.
In his statement to the police, the controversial politician has stated that he has nothing to do with neither the death threatening letter which the school teacher attached to the Nawagattegama Navodya Vidyalaya received on Tuesday nor the death of a school teacher whose body was found in a well close approximate to the school, last week.
The death body of the school teacher who was the fourth witness (An eye witness) in a case where Sarath Kumara lost a lawsuit against school teacher, Susila Herath, was found in suspicious circumstances, on 1 August.
With the investigations being launched in a joint operation by three police teams and Police Intelligence Unit, into the death, new twists in the case emerged after the threatening letter received by the teacher.
The letter which was sent by an anonymous writer claiming to be Sarath Kumara warned Susila Herath stating “I killed the witness…I will rape and kill you. You ruined my political career….,”
The preliminary autopsy of the deceased was conducted at the Chilaw General Hospital on 2 August. Judicial Medical Officer Dr. K. Wijewardana told Ada Derana that the cause of death will be determined after further tests. He said that they have kept some remains of the body for future testing.
