Infant sold for 30,000 - mother arrested

A 32-year old mother, who is said to have sold her six-month old child, has been arrested, along with another woman who had made the purchase, by the Sapugaskanda police.
The selling price was said to be Rs 30,000. According to the police, the child was born in the Gampaha General Hospital in February. The infant was sold to the woman who is a resident of Makola, Kiribathgoda, last week.
The both suspects are currently detained at the Mahara Magistrate’s Court, and will be produced before the Magistrate.
