Four suspects connected to several criminal acts including armed robberies have been arrested by police in the Middeniya area.
The young men, who are between the ages 21-29, were arrested in an operation carried out according to information received by Tangalle Division crimes unit.
They are reportedly residents of Middeniya, Embilipitiyaand Mount Lavinia.
Following the interrogation of the suspects, police also uncovered information regarding a robbery carried out at a business place in Elpitiya.
A locally-manufactured firearm, ammunition, a three-wheeler purchased using the stolen money and Rs 2,000 in cash were taken into custody by the police officers.
The arrested suspects are to be produced at the Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court today.
