Sabaragamuwa uni. student quetioned over false complaint

The complaint lodged with the police by an undergraduate attached to the University of Sabaragamuwa claiming that he was assaulted by an unidentified group of people, is a false one, police said.
Police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana told Ada Derana that this has been confirmed through the confessions made by the student. The Spokesperson added that the police investigation teams have also found contradictions in the statements made by the student to the police.
According to SSP Rohana this was an alleged plan by the student, who is a resident of Jaffna, as an excuse to be transferred to the University of Jaffna.
The student had lodged the complaint with the Balangoda police on 3 August.
According to police, the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) in Balangoda hospital, in his report has stated that the injuries caused to the student were self inflicted.
This student is said to be an ex-LTTE carder who joined the university in 2011 after he underwent the rehabilitation programme. He is being further questioned by the Terrorist Investigation Division.
