Minister Rajitha Senaratne has sent a letter of demand to Ven. Galaboda Aththe Gnanasara Thera demanding one billion rupee compensation over the abusive statements made against him at a press conference held in Colombo on 5 August.

“You have held a press conference on the 5th August 2014 with several journalists of both print and electronic media, with a view to maliciously defame and cause pain of mind to my client and to give wide publicity to your wrongful and false utterances directly and indirectly made against my client,” the letter of demand says.

General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena organization Galaboda Aththe Gnanasara Thera said at the press conference that it would complain to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Bribery Commission, as it possesses enough evidence to prove that the Minister was aiding Muslim extremism and is associating with a Kerala ganja dealer in the Puttalam District.

On a previous occasion, the Minister recently had blamed at the BBS and its members and accused them with provoking the violence in Beruwela and Aluthgama.
Minister Rajitha said that if he wins this lawsuit, he would donate the money to the National Fisheries Federation.
