
Two Sri Lankan nationals have drowned in the sea in Capaci, in the province of Palermo, at the lido Poseidon. The men, two brothers, died while a third person was rescued and taken to a hospital in the Province of Palermo in Sicily, Italy.
Italian media reported today that the 44-year-old man and his brother, 38, died while another relative was saved.
The three individuals were bathing about a hundred feet from the shore when they found themselves in difficulty due to the sea turning rough for the mistral wind.
The largest of the three began to go under, the brother tried desperately to save him but he disappeared in the waves while the third family was rescued by a Coast Guard patrol boat Mondello, notified by bathers who were aware of the group of foreigners in distress.
The body of the man of 44 years was recovered immediately while his brother was identified from a helicopter in the afternoon by the police at about twenty meters from the coast and the patrol of the Port of Mondello are trying to retrieve it. But the operations are hampered by weather conditions, La Repubblica Palermo reported.
