Gammanpila reveals his election campaign budget

It was reported that Western Provincial Council (WPC) Minister Udaya Gammanpila had spent sum 9.8 million rupees for his political campaign for the last Western Provincial council election in 2014.
According to the Media Unit of the Minister, sum 4.3 million rupees spent for the camping was donated by public. The rest was given by his friends and the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU).
Udaya Gammanpila in a prior occasion requested the public to donate him Rs. 100 each, since he was unable to afford the costs for the election campaign.
Gammanpila said that this was the very first time ever a Sri Lanka politician came up with a budget report of an election campaign. He pointed out that he would be under obligations if he obtained money from businessmen for the polls, and that was why he kindly requested the public to help him in the last campaign.
