UPDATE: Wariyapola girl arrested

A girl from Wariyapola, who got the attention of media after a video footage released on social media sites showing she was slapping a young person, was arrested, this morning.
Thilini Amalka, the 21-year-old girl was arrested by the Wariyapola police following a complaint lodged by assaulted person, Robert Dansalage Chandra Kumara alias Selva, on 22 August.
Amalka, who is currently employed at a factory in Ratmalana, was informed by the Mt.Lavinia police to appear in the Wariyapola Police station, to give a statement in connection with the incident, yesterday.
According to a police officer, the girl was arrested after recording the statement, on this matter. She will be produced before the Magistrate, this afternoon.
Selva who reportedly suffers an eardrum injury following the assault was admitted to the Wariyapola Base hospital, last Friday. He was later transferred to the Kurunegala Teaching hospital for further treatments.
