The Colombo District Court today issued an enjoining order suspending the strike launched by paramedics, after considering a petition filed by a patient. The enjoining order has been issued effective until September 12, Ada Derana reporter said.
The strike was launched by Supplementary Medical Services Trade Union Joint Federation, based on several demands, and was scheduled to continue for the fourth day today (29).
The strike had disrupted services at hospitals across the island, affecting thousands of patients arriving at hospitals seeking treatment.
The Supplementary Medical Services Trade Union Joint Federation had said they would continue the strike as discussions held with authorities had failed.
However, Colombo District Judge Sujatha Alahapperuma issued the enjoining order today to all five trade unions represented by the Supplementary Medical Services Trade Union Joint Federation after considering a petition filed by a patient of the Colombo National Hospital.
