Six-yr-old girl died from mother’s beating, says brother

A six-year-old girl has reportedly died after being brutally assaulted by her mother in the Wellampitiya area. The girl’s seven-year-old brother has given a statement claiming that their mother had choked and kicked his sister.
The girl, Fathima Safiya, has sustained critical injuries from the beating and succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo yesterday (31).
The girl’s 29-year-old mother has been arrested in suspicion over the incident while the post mortem examination is to be conducted today.
The incident comes just days after one-year-old infant was killed by her father in Beruwala.
