
Two suspects including an army lieutenant, arrested on charges of assaulting wildlife officers in the Horowpathana area, have been remanded until September 16 by the Kebithigollewa Magistrate.
Magistrate Raja Sirimewan Mahendra Raja also ordered that they be produced in an identification parade on the said date.
On September 02, a group of wildlife officers on their way to distribute firecrackers to villages with wild elephant threat were assaulted in the Horowpathana area.
When the case was taken up for hearing today, police informed the court that several other suspects are to be arrested in connection to the incident and therefore requested that bail not be provided to the suspects in remand custody.
