VIDEO: Harin receives highest number of preferential votes in Badulla

Harin Fernando received the highest number of preferential votes 173,993 at the Uva Provincial Council election contesting for the Badulla District on the United National Party (UNP). 

Shashindra Rajapaksa received 96,619 preferential votes from Monaragala District. Fernando’s victory with a big margin has demonstrated that he is a big favourite of the masses.
 
Nine UPFA candidates have been elected to the Uva Provincial Council from the Badulla district. Among them Anura Vidhanagamage came first with 59,316 votes for UPFA. Chamara Sampath received 34,337. 

However, UPFA has secured a significant victory in both Monaragala and Badulla Districts after pooling some 349,906 (51.25%) votes and securing 19 of 34 seats.

The United National Party (UNP) obtained some 274,773 votes (40.24%) and managed to secure 13 seats from the two districts.   

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) secured two seats after obtaining 36,580 votes (5.36%).
