Leader of the United National Party (UNP) and Sri Lanka’s Opposition Leader, Ranil Wickramasinghe, is scheduled to leave for England on Monday (Sept. 29) to participate in the 2014 Conference of the Conservative Party.
Wickramasinghe, who is slated to hold a series of talks with leaders of the UK’s Conservative Party during the visit, is expected to return to the country on October 05, a statement said.
The Conservative conference is due to get under way in Birmingham on Sunday with the Tories looking to recover from a ministerial resignation and defection.
British Prime Minister David Cameron is the incumbent leader of the Conservative Party, the largest single party in the House of Commons with 305 MPs, governing in coalition with the Liberal Democrats.
The prime minister had arrived in Birmingham with his wife for the last conference before May’s general election. He is due to deliver his set piece speech on Wednesday as he closes the conference.
