
A group of Sri Lankan fishermen and their three fishing trawlers have reportedly been arrested for illegally venturing into Myanmar waters.
It was previously reported that a group of Sri Lankan fishermen, who had left for sea form the Southern coastal area, were left stranded after coming into contact with a storm. Around 30 fishing vessels were caught in the storm, the Department of Fisheries said.
The department said that it has requested Myanmar authorities to allow the affected boats to enter their waters, however added that they have not received an official reply regarding the matter.
The fisheries department is yet to receive any reports regarding the storm as well.
