Lankan linked to al-Qaeda deported to SL

The Sri Lankan who alleged to have links with al-Qaeda and wanted suspect for alleged terror attacks here and other countries was deported to the island from Malaysia, last afternoon, the police sources said.
The suspects is currently being interrogated by the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID), sources added.
It was reported that the suspect had been hiding in Malaysia since 2011 and police began tracking his movements since December last year, monitoring his activities and contacts. Foreign Media reported that the the man had been planning various attacks on foreign soil but Malaysia was not a target.
