Jaya leaves jail, returns to Chennai

After twenty days of detention, following her conviction in the disproportionate case, former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa was on Saturday released from Bangalore central jail.
After being granted interim bail by the supreme Court, Jayalalitha’s release orders were issued by the special court earlier in the day. Release order of three other convicts in the case was also issued by the special court.
The special court’s release order were present before the jail authorities and after completion of the formalities, Jayalalithaa and other other three were release around 3.30 pm.
Outside the prison gate, Jayalalithaa was received by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu O Pannerselvam and a few cabinet ministers. From there her cavalcade left for HAL airstrip were in a special plane she flew back to Chennai.
Meanwhile, hundreds of her supporters have assembled outside the Chennai Airport to welcome her. As a security measure, over 200 policemen have been deployed at the Chennai airport. - Indileak
