
A suspect has been arrested at the Katunayake International Airport this morning for attempting to smuggle foreign currency notes amounting to around Rs 4 million, out of the country.
The 48-year-old man, a resident of Dehiwala, was arrested at around 3.15am today when he arrived at the airport to board a Dubai-bound flight, Sri Lanka customs said.
Saudi Arabian riyal, Qatari riyal, Omani riyal, Kuwaiti dinar, Bahraini dinar, UAE dinar and Swiss franc were among the foreign currency found concealed under his clothing, customs said.
