The Presidential Commission to Investigate into Complaints Regarding Missing Persons will hold the Next Public Sittings in Mullaitivu District from 2nd to 5th November 2014.
The sittings are to be held at the Maritimepattu Divisional Secretariat on November 2 and 3 from 9.00am to 5.00pm and Oddusuddan Divisional Secretariat on November 4 and 5.
The commission previously held public settings in Kilinochchi District for the second time from 27 to 30 Sept. It received over 250 complaints during that period.
The Commission has held its previous public sittings in Northern and Eastern provinces covering Jaffna, Mannar and Batticaloa Districts.
To date, 19,591 complaints have been received by the Commission, inclusive of approximately 5,000 complaints from relatives of missing security forces personnel.
The Commission has thus far inquired over 1000 complaints, which are being analysed for further investigations through an independent investigation team.
The three-member committee that comprises Mano Ramanathan, Priyanthi Suranjana Vidyaratna, and former High Court Judge Maxwell Parakrama Paranagama, was appointed by Extraordinary Gazette, No. 1823/42, under the provisions of Section 2 of the Commission of Inquiry Act.
