Car driver dies after head-on collision with bus

One person was killed following a head-on collision between a private bus and a car in the Koswadiya area in Marawila, police said.
The bus, traveling from Colombo to Jaffna, had collided with the car, heading from Chilaw to Negombo, at around 11.30pm last night.
The driver of the car, Joseph Shiron Mendis, a 50-year-old resident of Periyamulla in Negombo, was rushed to the Marawila Base Hospital with critical injuries following the crash, however he had succumbed to injuries at around 12.10am this morning.
The driver and conductor of the bus involved in the crash have surrendered to Marawila Police, who are conducting further investigations.
