Police today arrested 14 suspects in connection with a clash during a function at a hotel in the Lunuwila area in Wennappuwa last night, which resulted in the injuring and hospitalization of 4 persons including the hotel’s manager.
The manager of the hotel in question, Rushira Perera, has been transferred to the Colombo National Hospital from the Marawila Base Hospital while hotel employee Nihal Appuhami, attendees of the functions Nadee Ruwan and Nuwan Asanka Kumara are currently receiving treatment at the Marawila Hospital.
A dispute over a liquor shortage during the annual get-together of employees at a company in the Katunayake Free Trade Zone (FTZ) had led to the clash, police said.
The arrested suspects are to be produced at the Marawila District Court while Wennappuwa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
