
Sri Lanka Police has decided to make traffic fines payable via mobile phones and credit cards.
Police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana stated that as the first step of this initiative, a system will be introduced for motorists to pay respective fines for traffic offense s using any mobile phone.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo today, he stated that the new system will be put into action from the end of the year and that it will be available through all mobile service providers in the country.
Rohana said the decision to implement the new system was taken after considering the various difficulties faced motorists when paying traffic fines.
