BBS to promote a ‘national leader’

General Secretary of Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) Ven. Galaboda Aththe Gnanasara Thero said that their organization will promote a candidate for the forthcoming Presidential election in next year.

Gnanasara Thero said that the BBS will recognize their candidate as a ‘national leader’ and will not use the so called term ‘common candidate’ to address him.

“A county needs a good opposition. Some parties attempt to feeble United National Parties’ (UNP) power in the guise of aiding it to find the ‘common candidate’. The UNP must understand this,” Thero said.

While expressing that the opposition should announce their common candidate by now Gnanasara Thero added “How can a party rule the county, in which it fails to make a firm decision to pick the appropriate candidate,”

The General Secretary charged the opposition and even the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) of avoiding to speak against general public issues, but unnecessarily speak on whether the President is eligible to contest a third term, or on the 19th Constitutional amendment.
