The use of ‘new media’ to fulfill day to day news requirements has been rapidly increasing in the past two decades. Researchers have found that the young generation tends to get their news through new media elements, proving the much talked decline on usage of newspapers, radio, and now even televisions.

New media including news websites, SMS alert services and mobile phone app usage have become a usual thing among those who use internet in Sri Lanka as well. Giving a support to this, for the first time in the history, a Sri Lankan app developer has created an app named ‘Mogo Reader’ which is among the top ten apps at the Google Business Groups stories contest out of 317 participants from around the world.

Available on Google Play, Mogo Reader offers categorised, localised news. It enables Sri Lankans to experience the new mobile news reading trend through a fast updating and well designed android app.

Sri Lankan news app Mogo Reader is about to change all of that. Developed for Android and available on Google Play, Mogo Reader offers categorized, localized news. It’s the first service of its kind for Sri Lanka. Mogo Reader’s creators are banking on its potential as only the first step in an Asia-wide enterprise with enormous potential,” Co-Founder and CEO of Mogo Reader Vimukthi Liyanage said.

The apps offer its subscribers customizable news feeds and an interesting news reading experience which enables them to read what really matters you. It is included with categories such as Hot News /Technology /Politics /Business /Religious /Fashion /Sports in the featured headings, in which the users are free to get what to read.
